Club History

Northwich Basketball Club was originally established by Vale Royal District Council in about 2002 and at various times has been known as Wyvern Wolves, Winsford Wolves, Vale Royal Wolves, Northwich Jets and is now playing as Northwich Basketball Club.

Since the club began we have been focused on offering people an opportunity to play basketball locally in a positive and friendly environment.

During the Covid pandemic we have had an on-court break but it has allowed us to look at what we can do to best develop basketball in the area and our club. Part of this rejuvenation of the club has been to establish all the required paperwork to operate under Basketball England rules and so we now have an up to date constitution, roles & responsibilities, accident procedures, child protection policy and set of accounts.

We are currently training at five venues over the course of the year, offering sessions from U10s and upwards, alongside our new Women & Girl’s only session. Since returning from the pandemic we’ve been incredibly excited by the number of players back at the club with over 200 current active players.

We have competed in the Warrington Central Venue League since 2007, winning 34 playoff titles at age groups from Year 7/8 through to Men’s. We are now looking to create our own local leagues to offer a more tailored experience for our players with a focus on development and offering an opportunity to play in close, well contested games in a high-quality environment.

We are always looking for new people to get involved in the club, as players, but also as coaches, scorekeepers, videographers and any other role in which you feel you can make a difference. Get in touch if you are interested and we can continue to build the legacy of the club.
